Kgalaletso is currently a PhD candidate in biochemistry at the University of Johannesburg, where her supervisors are Dr. Fidele Tugizimana, Professor Justin van der Hooft, and Dr. Zamani Cele. She is also a research assistant in the biochemistry department and an active member of the Metabolomics Society South Africa, serving on its training and conferencing committee. A woman steeped in the belief of education and accepting its strength, Kgalaletso holds a BSc in life and environmental sciences: physiology and biochemistry (cum laude), an honours in biochemistry (cum laude), and a master’s in biochemistry (magna cum laude), all from the University of Johannesburg. Her PhD research focuses on computational metabolomics, using emerging computational tools to study the metabolism of South African medicinal plants. She aims to contribute to the development of integrated tools to explore plant metabolism, uncover biosynthetic pathways, and discover novel plant-derived metabolites with potential medicinal, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical value.
