Matimba Chipungu lives by the principle, 'Teach them young,' embodying the belief that instilling knowledge and values early shapes a brighter future. Born in Zambia and raised in South Africa, Chipungu’s value for education paid off when she completed her junior degree in Social Science at the University of the Free State (UFS). Her passion for education began when she was offered a learnership at one local primary school, where she was a mathematician and reading coach. She became attached children and formed a strong bond. This saw her investing her time in helping learners in after-school sessions. She began her Edu-Castle with just five learners, but today she proudly serves 150—and the number continues to grow. She is mostly passionate about education and community development. Her centre is fully self-funded since its inception. “I am happy to know that I’m contributing to their educational journey,” she said.
