More info:

Despite slowly losing her eyesight, Sharon (35) continues to go beyond and be an inspiration through the various jobs she does, which include being a blogger, motivational speaker, author, and disability awareness advocate.   A wife and mother, Sharon was diagnosed with a rare eye condition in 2014, and she has never been demotivated ever since. Today, she writes for an online Afrikaans magazine, Kaleidoskoop Tydskrif, where she shares stories and adventures. At the Sight Seeing Blind Bride, she shares her journey, daily life, and experiences to help break the stereotypes about blindness.  Sharon says: “Blindness doesn’t stop me from seeing the beauty in life. You don’t need sight to have vision—only faith, hope, and courage.”   Sharon contributed to a book titled Our Story Holds Our Cure, as one of the sixty-five writers selected to contribute. The book highlights real-life stories of our heritage.   “I do motivational speaking and community work, including fundraising to give back to the blind community. I know what it’s like to live on a small social grant and how hard that can be. That’s why I often try to brighten someone’s day by organising special lunches or small acts of kindness. It might seem small, but to someone struggling, it can mean the world,” she says.    At home, Sharon is supported by her husband, who is also blind; the two have a young daughter and two guide dogs.     “I use my voice to encourage others, show the power of faith and love, and prove that disability does not mean inability. I may not see with my eyes, but I see with my heart and soul,” she concludes.
