Zukiswa Khoza has devoted her life to the development and transformation of the education sector. At the height of political tension between 1993 and 1995, as the country’s transition period, she was pursuing her teacher’s diploma at Kagisanong College of Education, where she was majoring in mathematics, physical science, among others. She began to teach at Tshirologang Primary School in 1996. In understanding learning barriers, she pursued a diploma in Learners with special educational needs at Wits University. She was among the teachers who introduced IsiXhosa at her school as part of addressing the learning and teaching boundaries. She grew into different roles in education, from just a teacher to departmental head, deputy principal, and ultimately principal at Noka Ya Lorato Primary School in 2022. A year ago, she was awarded the second position for excellence in primary school leadership in the National Teaching Awards. Her current leadership roles include the deputy chairperson of the South African Principals Association and chairperson for FEDSAS advisory council.
