An SG must be banned from contesting for higher office
Shwa has been thinking deeply just how horrible the party head-quartered at Loothuli House in the Jozi CBD is as an organisation.
So, the man who has imposed a gag order on the succession rate, the secretary-general, can pretend to be doing his work while campaigning for himself while other are banned from doing so?
Lol, some of the hopefuls for the coveted ANC presidential position in the upcoming 2027 national conference have been complaining in corners that party day-to-day Induna, Fikile Mbalula is in an advantageous position and milking it.
Well, Shwa advises these comrades to move a motion in the next party national policy conference for a constitutional amendment barring the SG from contesting for a higher position. Alternatively, they can move for the curtailing an SG’s powers.
Not only is an ANC SG advantaged by his job of running the party daily, but is also a custodian of a membership system that decides who goes to conference. It would seem anyone in that office will always get what they want at a national conference.
Just look at the Chris Hani Cabal leader, old Gwede Mantashe, who delivered himself as national chair in 2017 and was crucial in Cupcake’s elevation to the throne.
