Content creators surprised with some interesting outfits
How times have changed. We no longer have to look forward only to the South African Music Awards and what not the celeb pool is so much bigger now with “content creators.” There’s even an award ceremony just for them.
And Shwa was honoured with an invite to attend the glitzy DStv Content Creator Awards in Sandton last Saturday.
And it was a formal black-tie affair.
Award-winning comedian and content creator, Donovan Goliath, was the host. Shwa must admit he is funnier on the socials than he is as a stand-up.
But kudos to him for navigating the night with energy and humour.
It makes sense why you scooped an award last year and again this year. At least you are better than most fakes Shwa sees on the TikTok streets.
Peeps really made an effort and arrived in style as they walked the purple carpet.
Look, all was not so glam. There were a few embarrassing ensembles in the mix.
Lasizwe Dambuza was styled by Lindani Styling. The content creator and Birth of Stars member, Kagiso Mogola, apparently inspired his outfit. Shwa felt really embarrassed on your behalf because what in the hell was that thing you were wearing. Shwa thinks Pearl Thusi was actually your source of inspiration – but sweets, you didn’t quite pull it off.
Mihlali Ndamase was not present to accept her award. Shwa would just like to commend you for bagging the Original Gangster (OG)award, you deserve it, sweety.
Bontle and Candice Modiselle were snatched up in Sihle the Designer’s numbers, and Shwa is loving this new fresh look by Bontle of no dreadlocks.
Shwa also spotted actress Brenda Mhlongo and daughter Snikiwe. The mother-and-daughter duo served high fashion statement with their shimmering gold and silver outfits. Shwa is just concerned where the black-tie theme went, cos what was that? You guys looked like you were about to trek some dry dessert somewhere in those outfits.
Content queen, Kim Jayde, is rather predictable. Shwa understands that you are a sneaker ambassador and all, but, baby girl, it’s always the same – a glam dress with kicks. Surprise us, man. Shwa is pleading with you, please think out of the box for once.
At least our other content creator, K Naomi Phakathi, came through and tried to dress for the theme with her sexy olive green and black number by RethaN.
A very big congratulations to fashion and lifestyle digital content creator, Kefilwe Mabote, who slayed in a Gert-Johan Coetzee design. You know when you wear Coetzee, you doing it right.
