Local acts were the real stars at RnB Crooner Freddie Jackson’s concert
Freddie Jackson came through to celebrate his 67th birthday with South Africans. But it seems fans were not happy with his performance at Sun City – claiming the old man could hardly hold a note. Shwa had a different experience at the Emperors Palace leg of the concert last Saturday.
The You’re My Lady R&B crooner is in no way as fit and loud as he used to be – but he tried, shame! Promoter Thabiso Mogashwa, better known as DJ SKeelo, and director of Remoakantse Holdings, is doing well in bringing these old geezers to town – because millennials are still crazy about these old tunes that once made radio stations like Metro FM shine on Sundays. Now Jacaranda, which happened to be the media partner at this concert, is the owner of the RnB space.
Next on Skeelo’s line-up is Bebe Winans as well as Jeffrey Osborne – ama2ks have no idea who these stars are but that’s ok.
But look, the actual stars of this Freddie show were DJ Young, DJ Ismail Abrahams, Vusi Nova and Zonke. Yoh! Zonke…this gal deserves her flowers and belongs to international stages. She mesmerised the crowd, with everyone on their feet. DJ Young, who has become a social media sensation, showed again why he is respected as a king of the love decks. Some couples were so smitten with his tunes, Shwa was convinced they were ready to propose.
