Music playing field now level
Shwa takes this opportunity to comment on the advent of the digital music streaming platforms.
Gone are the days of established artists having the upper hand over newcomers owing to their proximity to radio stations’ music compilers.
Gone are the days where we would read about this or that artists having paid payola for their music to have more airplay. Many will remember the Mabala Noise era.
Now, that music is mainly consumed through digital streaming platforms. There is no small or big musician – only good music gets the most streams.
This is a great development in unleashing real and raw talent without gatekeeping shenanigans by those who have been in the game for long.
