A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested following the discovery of six bodies in a building in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Gauteng SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Brenda Muridili, said the gruesome discovery was made after police were called to the building due to a foul smell coming out of one of the rooms.
“It is reported that on October 2 2022 at 8pm, the suspect was seen [in the company of the] deceased woman,” said Muridili, noting that the deceased had vanished until her lifeless body was discovered on Sunday morning.
She added that the deceased clothes matched those of one of the persons reported missing recently.
Upon questioning the suspect, police officers went back to the building and found five more bodies, said Muridili, adding that the premises are used as a makeshift workshop. There is also a rubbish dumpster near the building.
“Unfortunately, the other five bodies are at the late stage of decomposition. They will be subjected to forensic analysis for identification,” she said, adding that an investigation is under way.
The suspect is expected in court soon on six counts of murder.
