ActionSA leadership will lead a march to the office of the Minister of Police Bheki Cele in Pretoria on Thursday next week.
The march will bring together the party’s mandarins including ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba, national chairperson Michael Beaumont, and provincial chairpersons.
ActionSA spokesperson Lerato Ngobeni said the organisation will present a memorandum that will detail the failures of SA Police Service stations across the country.
“We will be giving the minister three months to address these challenges,” said Ngobeni.
“If he fails to do so, ActionSA will consider litigation to uphold the rights of all South Africans to live free from fear.
“The ever-worsening crime statistics paint a grim picture of just how it is criminals operate without concern while law-abiding South Africans live in fear.”
Ngobeni reiterated that it cannot be accepted that crime is spiraling out of control in a country that has a constitution which guarantees safety to all persons.
“Police stations should make South Africans feel safe in their homes, streets and communities.
“Instead, they have become the sites of policing failure, where non-functional vehicles rust, telephones are not answered, and where South Africans are denied justice.”
She added that the police minister’s office should take the blame for the failures of non-functional police stations.
