AmaZulu king spokesperson presents threat to unity – IFP

AmaZulu king spokesperson Prince Africa Zulu of Onkweni is now under fire in the ongoing skirmishes raging in the royal house.

On Thursday, the IFP fired back after the king’s trusted lieutenant  accused the party in a radio interview of trying to use the king to garner political mileage leading up to the 2024 general elections.

“With the re-emergence of Prince Africa in His Majesty’s office, after previously being fired for his questionable and crude behaviour, he now presents the biggest threat to the unity and stability of the AmaZulu nation,” said the IFP in a statement on Thursday.

“It is clear that Prince Africa only has one objective, to destroy the credibility of the office of His Majesty the king, and dragging it into the political arena where it does not belong.”

The party lamented that if it was not for Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, King MisuZulu KaZwelithini would not have ascended the throne, saying Buthelezi has almost single-handedly ensured the unity, prosperity, and stability of the nation.

“The personal sacrifices of Prince Buthelezi ensured the smooth transition from the late monarch to the current monarch. He often stood alone and was maligned and insulted for ensuring that Zulu customs and traditions are upheld.”

Meanwhile, Prince Africa maintains the IFP wants to use the throne and the king to amass votes, insisting that his crusade will be to depoliticize the throne by ensuring that no single political party claims legitimacy to the king.

“The king must not be dragged into politics because he is a king for everyone. We are here to defend and protect the throne, it our responsibility. That’s what I was born to do,” he explained.
