ANC bigwig replaces another ANC veteran as Vodacom chair

Telecommunications giant Vodacom on Friday announced the appointment of ANC heavyweight Saki Macozoma as it’s chairperson, replacing former deputy minister of finance Jabu Moleleki.

Vodacom in a statement said Moleleki will retire and step down from the board at the group’s annual general meeting set for July.


“The Board expresses its thanks to Jabu for his leadership and valuable contribution to both the Board and Vodacom over the past 11 years and wishes him much success with his future endeavors,” Vodacom said.

“The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Saki Macozoma, current lead independent non-executive director, to the role of Chairman of the company with effect from Wednesday 22 July 2020.”

Macozoma was first appointed as Vodacom’s non-executive in July 2017.

President Cyril Ramaphosa was the chairperson of MTN from 2002 to 2013 – MTN’s current chairperson is former deputy minister of finance, Mcebisi Jonas.
