Lungi Mnganga-Gcabashe has died.
The African National Congress (ANC) Women’s League Deputy President passed away at her KwaZulu-Natal home on Saturday. She was 64 years old.
The majority governing party described Mnganga-Gcabashe as a “lifelong activist” and a “servant of the people”.
She was chairperson of the Parliamentary portfolio committee on tourism previously, she held the position in the public enterprises committee.
The party said Mnganga-Gcabashe belonged to a generation of women who carried a fire of justice within them, therefore leaving behind a powerful legacy of principled leadership, humility, and unyielding love for her people.
ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula posted to his X account: “The African National Congress dips its banner in solemn tribute to Comrade Lungi Annette Mnganga-Gcabashe, a lifelong activist, servant of the people, Member of the ANC National Executive Committee, and Deputy President of the African National Congress Women’s League.”
