The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has joined the fray requesting Police Minister Bheki Cele to avail SA Police Service resources to protect Xolani Khumalo, the host of Sizokuthola.
“As a result of his courageous work as the host of Sizokuthola, Xolani has become the target of numerous threats to his life,” wrote ATM president Vuyo Zungula in a letter to Cele and Justice Minister Ronald Lamola.
“His commitment to revealing the truth behind the drug epidemic has made him a beacon of hope for South Africans who yearn for safer communities.”
Khumalo, who has gained social media popularity, hosts the crime reality TV show flighted on Moja Love. Sizokuthola is isiZulu word meaning “we will find you”.
The show tracks down the drug trade and exposes the masterminds and drug lords operating in posh suburbs and townships across the country.
While he has received accolades from many South Africans for his fearless crusade in ridding the country of drugs, to some he has also become enemy number one with a bounty on his head.
“In light of these circumstances, I implore you to take immediate action to ensure the safety of Xolani and the entire Sizokuthola production. It is essential that they be provided with police protection when they are shooting episodes of Sizokuthola.
“There must be round-the-clock surveillance, and other necessary security measures to mitigate the risks they face.”
Recently, Khumalo and Sizokuthola crew members were allegedly attacked while filming an arrest of a drug dealer in Rustenburg, North West.
