COVID-19 cases increase to 2173

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has increased by 145, taking the total number  to 2173 from  2028. 

This was announced by the Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize in a statement on Sunday night.

Mkhize also said the total number of  tests conducted to date is 80 085 and there was an increase in the number of tests done in public hospitals.


“Of the 5032 tests conducted in the past day, 3192 were done in public laboratories,” he said.

 He said Gauteng cases have increased to  865, Western Cape 587, Kwa-Zulu Natal 443, Free State 96, Eastern Cape 88, Limpopo 23, Mpumalanga 21, North West 19 and Northern Cape 16.

 He further said 15 other cases have not been allocated.
