One hundred forty four ( 144) COVID 19 patients have lost their lives to the disease.
This has increased the death toll in South Africa from 4 804 to 4948 .
This was announced by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Saturday July 18.
” We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased,” he said.
Mkhize also said that 13,285 more people were infected in the last 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of national infections from 337 594 to 350 879.
He also said the recovery number has increased from 178 183 to 182 230, which translates to a recovery rate of 52 percent.
