Johannesburg – Bafana Bafana’s assistant coach Janevski Cedomir has tested positive for Covid-19.
This puts the national soccer team’s upcoming friendly match against Uganda, as it is Covid-19 protocol for a person to self isolate for 10 days after being in contact with a person who tests positive.
“As per Covid-19 requirements and protocol, Bafana Bafana team conducted the second Covid-19 tests on Tuesday for the entire team ahead of the match against Uganda,” Safa said in a statement.
“As is the norm, all team members – players and support staff – are tested ahead of entering into camp and all results were negative. However, during the second round of tests conducted on Tuesday, 8 June 2021, Assistant coach Cedomir tested positive,” Safa further stated.
‘’We continue to check for clinical symptoms and encourage the staff to wear masks without failure, practice social distance and everyone is accommodated separately,’’ said team doctor, Dr Tshepo Molobi.
Bafana Bafana take on the Ugandan Cranes on Thursday, 10 June 2021 at Orlando Stadium. The match kicks off at 18h00.
