COVID-19 cases increase by 142

South Africa now has 3 300 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 58 deaths and 1 055 recoveries.

As of today there are 142 new cases.

Four more people died this week bringing the death toll to 58.


The department of Health announced that there is a significant increase in recoveries in the Gauteng province with 545 recoveries.

However, it was revealed that Pick n Pay staff at the Alex mall, in Alexandra were part of a mass testing, following two workers testing positive for COVID19.

The shop was closed down for safety reasons and health workers were deployed to conduct the mass testing. Employees were requested to wear their uniforms and carry permits when coming for testing.
