Two COVID-19 patients recover

Health minister Zweli Mkhize announced on Friday that two confirmed patients of coronavirus, who had tested positive, were ready to go home.

He said the country could expect more people recovering from the virus as antibodies and immunoglobulins help to fight the virus.

“So far there is no one who has died in South Africa and at the moment we have got two people who are recorded as recovered and so we will actually, with time, be seeing a number of them getting discharged and so it is important for us to know that at some point it will end up being like one of the flus,” he said.

It was only 20% of the South African population, which had underlying infections, who would need assistance.

“You need to understand that all we are doing is that we manage it so that your body can be strong enough to defeat the virus.

“At the end of the day it’s not like we are sitting here and seeing this disease and think everyone is going to die, no it’s not going to be like that,” said Mkhize
