Dead man’s body found stuffed in a suitcase in Eastern Cape

The police in the Eastern Cape are investigating a case of murder after a man’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase.

According to the police at Mlungisi in Komani, the deceased was reported missing on Saturday, a day before the gruesome discovery.


Captain Namhla Mdleleni said a suitcase was found dumped near a river stream at Pahlane Street in Newvale.

“The body of a 37-year-old man was found in a suitcase dumped at Pahlane Street in Newvale on Sunday,” said Mdleleni.

“The police were summoned to the scene and on arrival they found the body in a suitcase near the stream. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the deceased was reported as a missing person on Saturday.

“A case of murder was opened and one suspect has been arrested and will appear before the Komani magistrate’s court soon.”
