Eight people have died in a collision between a truck and a light motor vehicle on the N2 near Empangeni.
KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service personnel responded to the scene, but unfortunately, eight occupants had already died.
Paramedics immediately rendered medical assistance to the 16 survivors. Four had sustained critical injuries while the remainder were in serious condition. All were treated on the scene and transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by local authorities.
