Premier Soccer League (PSL) general manager Ace Ncobo has allegedly assaulted his fiancée because she went to a fast food store without telling him.
This is according to a police officer who did not want to be named because he is not allowed to speak to the media.
According to the cop, who is close to the investigations team, Ncobo and his fiancée, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were involved in a fierce argument at their home in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg.
After the argument, the fiancée walked out of their crib and went to a McDonald’s without telling him.
When she returned home after a while, alleged the cop, Ncobo went bonkers and asked her where she had been.
When she replied that she had gone to the outfit, Ncobo allegedly assaulted her in front of their son.
The allegations that Ncobo inflicted violence on his fiancée are corroborated in a truncated police statement that Sunday World has seen.
The statement reads as follows in part: “The victim alleges that her fiancé slapped her several times on her face, pushed her to the bed, and continued to slap her.
“She further alleges that she managed to run away after her fiancé went to check on their son, who was crying.”
Another deep throat in the police service, who also did not want to be identified because they too are not allowed to speak to the media, alleged that Ncobo briefed the police that it was his fiancée who beat him up.
The mole alleged that Ncobo sustained injuries to the back of his body.
“I think that one of the reasons she decided to withdraw the charges against him was that she was scared he would press counter-charges against her,” said the tipster.
The informant said even though Ncobo’s fiancée has withdrawn the case against him, he is now at the mercy of their son, who witnessed the alleged incident.
“We will do an assessment of the child, and if the child corroborates his mother’s version and is a credible witness, we will definitely ask the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) to continue with the prosecution.
“We want to send a strong message to would-be gender-based violence perpetrators that our justice system will not tolerate violence against women.
“We also want to send a strong message to women who open domestic violence cases against their partners and withdraw them later that such can no longer be tolerated.
“When they are killed, the public apportions the blame to us that we are not dealing with the scourge of gender-based violence in South Africa,” said the cop.
“Despite the victim filing a withdrawal statement, the NPA refused to withdraw the case against the 58-year-old when he appeared in the Kempton Park magistrate’s court on Tuesday.”
State prosecutor Takalani Mukhumo argued that the statement was not filed via police channels and its authenticity needed to be verified.
South Gauteng NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said they viewed the allegations against Ncobo in a serious light and will continue protecting victims of GBV; hence, they were not withdrawing the case.
