Gagasi FM rock jock Flymotion has been summoned to an internal hearing following his social media post against his co-presenter Felix Hlophe.
The station’s management had a word with Flymotion, real name Sandile Makhanya. This after he had taken to social media to vent about having to work with Felix.
Station confirms matter
The meeting was confirmed by Gagasi FM spokesperson Khulekani Shandu. However, he denied allegations that Flymotion lodged a complaint. But he confirmed that management met up with him.
In the social media post, which has since been deleted, Flymotion said: “Siyafana nam uFelix Hlophe wangihlukumeza njengoba, he was your big brother, and I nearly killed myself (You and I are the same; Felix Hlophe mistreated me, as your big brother, and I nearly killed myself).”
In another post, Flymotion added, “uFelix Hlophe lowo kimina yonke lento oyishoyo, I went through a lot, and you?”
Implicated station’s name
Said Shandu: “The management met with Flymotion following his social media comment as it implicated the name of the station. So the meeting was just to engage him and help him understand where he was coming from with the comment. Please also note that Flymotion has not lodged any complaint.”
However, a source told Sunday World that Flymotion lodged a complaint with the station’s human resources department. He complained that he’s being mistreated by his co-presenter. Flymotion said comedian Felix Hlophe mistreated him on and off air.
Sources at the station say Hlophe resents Flymotion. They say it has a lot to do with them being professional comedians, apart from being radio jocks at Gagasi FM.
Toxic work relationship
Another source said: “He didn’t want him to be part of the show from the word go. I think it has to do with them being rivals, as both of them are comedians. It went beyond the air, but [Hlophe] would use his power to block Flymotion at comedy gigs.
“So Flymotion voiced it out to HR, and he wasn’t heard by management. Then he wrote on Facebook during Clarissa’s rant on Kini. Last week, management called him for a hearing. They told him not to ever voice Gagasi FM issues on social media. Basically, he is not allowed to talk about Felix bullying him.”
Felix said: “I’m not authorised to offer any comment to the media about anything related to Gagasi FM. The complaint I filed is an HR matter and, as such, is an internal thing.”
