Johannesburg – The bodies of a Gauteng couple were discovered at their Crosby home this past weekend.
The newly married couple had just returned home from their honeymoon and are believed to have died from electrocution while attempting to use a shower in their home.
Gauteng police said that that the bodies of Zaheer Sarang and Nabeelah Khan were found on Sunday afternoon.
According to multiple media reports, 24-year-old Khan was electrocuted after touching a tap in the shower and her husband was electrocuted when he tried to help her.
It is believed that power outages and illegal connections are a problem in the area.
City Power CEO Mongezi Ntsokolo has ordered an urgent investigation into the matter.
“While we a busy with investigations, we urge the residents to desist from tampering with electricity infrastructure, vandalism and illegal connections which may lead to the circuit malfunctioning,” Ntsokolo said.
