Johannesburg – The glamourous GQ awards have dropped radio personality and singer Unathi Nkayi as their host.
Sunday World can reveal that the former Khaya FM DJ who was scheduled to host this year’s edition of the ‘GQ Man Of The Year Awards’ ceremony has been dropped from the show.
This comes after the alleged behind-the-scenes drama that Nkayi has with her former colleague, Sizwe Dlomo, which resulted in Nkayi ‘falsely’ accusing Dhlomo of verbal abuse and being toxic.

GQ’s editor Molefe Mukona confirmed to Sunday World that Unathi will no longer be hosting the party’s prestigious fashion event.
“At the moment she won’t be hosting,” he told Sunday World.
When he was quizzed on who will be replacing Unathi, he said, “We are currently in talks with different people.”
Nkayi posted about bagging the gig on her Instagram page yesterday (Monday).
The post has since been deleted.

Since the news broke out this past Sunday of her ‘falsely’ accusing Dhlomo and demanding that he be fired, a host of public figures have called her out.
Gender activist Rosie Motene said in a tweet, “Unathi why? In a country, with such a high GBV and femicide rate. At a station where so many people suffered and are still suffering from GBV. Would you please explain yourself as the recording states the facts? Your actions have taken us 100000 steps back.”

Ntsiki Mazwai also added her voice and said in an Instagram post, “Women who falsely accuse men should be arrested…. This is bullshit and it is witchcraft to make up stories about people and ride on the fact that society will believe you. We didn’t get gagged and into legal shit for this shit. R200 000 for my Activism for women to LIE f**ken waste of my time.”

Popular DJ Franky, tweeted Dhlomo in support, “Dawg! We joke about what happened but damn, God was with you. Thank him for those recordings, many have gone “down” because of such allegations. Cant wait to tune in as usual later today.”
