Zinzi Nsele has called time on her marriage.
The Gqeberha: The Empire actress had been in the “toxic” union with businessman Musa Nsele for 17 years.
The thespian broke the news to her fans on her Instagram account writing: “Being single is the most calmest flex. Doing things at your own pace, not being worried where he is and what he does. There is everything right in starting again. Biggest flex.”
It was time to let go
In another message she wrote: “When you have done it all to save your marriage, but now have to make a decision to let go. 17 years down. Kulungile Baba. This too shall pass.”
Nsele plays Vuyokazi on Gqeberha The empire. She previously was in Generations the Legacy, Gomora, Sthembiso, The River amongst others.
Nsele told Sunday World that the relationship had become toxic.
She says in time she will share more
“A lot of good and bad things happened in my marriage. Unfortunately I’m not in a position to disclose everything but at the right time I’ll share everything. What I can say is that our relationship became toxic and I had no other choice but myself,” said Nsele.
She described the marriage as a rollercoaster. “The first few years of my marriage were great, life was good and we were both young with big dreams. But over the years things changed, our relationship was no longer the same. We’d fight and reconcile only to fight the next day. We eventually drifted apart,” said Nsele.
She said they tried to fix things but it proved impossible.
Tried to save marriage but nothing helped
“We tried but failed. We prayed, we consulted with our elders, including the families, but nothing could help,” said Nsele.
Her industry colleagues, fans and friends took turns celebrating her new found freedom.
Bukiwe Keva wrote: “I love you, okay. I’m happy that you made this tough decision. I know this is not easy because you experienced true love and you loved hard too. You’ll be fine, remember time heals.”
Yola Tenza said: “The toughest decision ever and yet the most important when you start losing yourself. I also got a divorce this year and I have experienced peace in the most beautiful way possible. I pray God gives you strength and comfort during this time.”
