Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) has announced the arrival of a highly exclusive performance model for local enthusiasts, unveiling the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Final Edition, with only 15 units allocated to the South African market.
Positioned as a collector’s send-off to one of AMG’s most celebrated compact performance cars, the Final Edition marks the closing chapter of the current CLA 45 S generation, blending extreme performance with distinctive design cues reserved for a select few buyers.
The CLA 45 S has long been admired for packing supercar-level engineering into a sleek four-door coupé silhouette. At its heart is AMG’s legendary 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, widely recognised as the most powerful production four-cylinder engine in the world.
In this Final Edition guise, it produces a staggering 310kW of power and 500Nm of torque, sprinting from 0–100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 270km/h.
Beyond the numbers, the engine carries a special pedigree. Each unit is hand-assembled at AMG’s Affalterbach facility under the brand’s famed “one man, one engine” philosophy, a detail that continues to resonate deeply with purists and collectors alike.
Power is channelled through an AMG Speedshift DCT-8G dual-clutch transmission, while the fully variable AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system delivers both razor-sharp grip and, at the
driver’s discretion, dramatic drift capability.
A darker, bolder final statement
All 15 South African Final Edition models are finished in Night Black, reinforcing the car’s stealthy, high-performance character. Edition-specific highlights include bold “45 S” door decals, yellow AMG branding on the exterior mirror covers, and 19-inch matte black AMG forged wheels with yellow-accented hubcaps.
The aggressive aesthetic is further enhanced by the AMG Night Package and Night Package II, introducing black chrome details across the grille, badging and exhaust tips. Subtle touches such as the silver-chrome AMG fuel filler cap underline the car’s attention to detail.
Performance luxury inside
Inside the cabin, AMG’s motorsport DNA is paired with striking visual contrast. AMG Performance seats are upholstered in a mix of Artico artificial leather and Microcut microfibre, complemented by yellow contrast stitching throughout the interior.
Embroidered “45 S” logos on the headrests, a Final Edition badge on the centre console, illuminated AMG door sills, and bespoke floor mats reinforce the car’s limited-run status. An AMG Performance steering wheel trimmed in Nappa leather and Microcut completes the immersive cockpit.

With pricing starting at R1 721 234, including VAT and a 5-year/100 000km service and maintenance plan, the AMG CLA 45 S Final Edition is not just a performance car; it is a statement of rarity, craftsmanship and the end of an era.
