Lerato Kganyago’s hubby to face-off with officer he accuses of bribe

Lerato Kganyago’s husband Thami Ndlala’s tenure as an alleged fake lawyer will be brought under scrutiny when he appears in court for cross-examination in 2024.

Ndlala will finally come face-to-face with a Hawks officer he accuses of soliciting a bribe nine years ago.

The charges were laid by Ndlala in 2014 after he accused the officer of demanding a R100 000 bribe from him while investigating a case involving the businessman.

The officer was investigating a case where the businessman was accused of buying a Range Rover allegedly using fraudulent documents.

The police officer told Sunday World that he is happy that there is progress in the case after stalling for more than nine years.

He said his life was put on hold after the matter was postponed several times, adding that during this period, he was also suspended from his duties as a cop.

He reportedly only discovered that there was a case of extortion against him after he arrested Ndlala.

Fraudulent documents, qualifications

“I was told by my bosses in February 2014 that charges of corruption and extortion had been laid against me by Ndlala and that I needed to hand myself over [to police],” said the officer.

The case will sit at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria in March, where the businessman will be cross-questioned.

Ndlala appeared in the same court last week and the matter was postponed following proceedings that lasted for two days.

During his appearance, the court was presented with evidence that included fraudulent documents, qualifications and pictures of Ndlala while he was practising as a lawyer.

Ndlala was allegedly practising without formal qualifications.

Ndlala is popularly known as Mr Valentines for gifting the Metro FM DJ extravagant Valentine’s Day presents.

The gifts included booking out the over 90-000-seater FNB Stadium, buying her a hotel and flying her to the US in 2022 where he booked RnB crooner Maxwell to serenade her.
