Letoya Makhene back with new album, hits out at ex-lover

Letoya Makhene, the former actress on Generations: The Legacy, has officially announced her comeback to music.

During the exclusive listening session for her new single and during the official signing with her new record label, Ntethe Global Effect, Makhene disclosed that she has been working on new music.

Legendary musician Blondie Makhene, the singer’s father, and musician and dancer Lindo “Tupac” Sithole were also present at the signing and listening event.

She explained that her busy schedule prevented her from focusing on her music full-time the last time, so this time she decided to return with a new record label behind her.

She claims that Masechaba Khumalo, a close friend and media personality, introduced her to Ntethe Global Effect.

Allegations of abusive marriage

Award-winning musician and music executive Ntethelelo Mposwa, also known as Ntethe, founded the multifaceted entertainment company Ntethe Global Effect.

Universal Music Publishing Group is the company’s publisher.

Makhene also mentioned that she was introduced to her new music home when she was going through a difficult time in life.

“Our journey almost didn’t begin because of this dark place that I was in at the time, but Ntethe Global Effect and Masechaba Media have kind of been by my side and soothing me through one of the deepest processes in my life, and the healing has been through music,” she said.

Makhene is currently going through a separation from her wife, Lebohang Polumo, following a four-year marriage. There have been allegations of abuse and assault in the marriage.

Healing process

She claimed that she is in the process of healing, but Polumo is allegedly making it difficult for her to move on.

Said Makhene: “It’s unfortunate that is the hole I am in. My perpetrator feels like they are not going to stop. It makes complete healing so difficult.

“I never expected healing to be so difficult. Healing is a process; others take years. I cannot say I am there yet.”

She said working with Ntethe has been both a blessing and a challenge because, as a vocal producer, “he has really stretched me beyond my limits”.

Abantu, the first single from her upcoming album, is an Afro-soul track with a distinct 80s vibe that is decadently layered with sensual maskandi undertones.
