Ludumo Lamati sets his sights on unified titles

Johannesburg – The newly crowned International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior featherweight champion Ludumo “9mm” Lamati believes his boxing skills were put to the test by his tough Mexican opponent Jose Martin Estrada Garcia last week.

Basking in glory after winning his biggest ring accolade, Lamati now has set his sights firmly on bigger challenges as he wants to become a unified titles champion.

The skillful fighter from King Willams Town in the Eastern Cape outpointed Estrada to capture the vacant IBO junior featherweight crown at Emperors Palace last Saturday.

“Estrada was my tough est opponent thus far, he really pushed me to the limit. I don’t want to lie the guy came here with the sole purpose to take home the belt. He tested me in every way and after locking horns with Estrada I feel ready for any challenge thrown at me.

“This victory means a lot to me, it confirmed that I’m ready to mix it with world champions. My aim now is to climb on world ratings and unify titles with other world champions. Through my title defences I will achieve that and it is the promoter’s plan and I’m keen to follow on that,” said Lamati.
