Man nabbed for girlfriend’s murder

A 32-year-old Limpopo man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 27-year-old girlfriend on Monday.

According to the police, the man from Millenium Park in Mahwelereng and the deceased were allegedly embroiled in a heated argument. The altercation, which took place in their home, allegedly turned into a physical fight.

Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said the woman was allegedly stabbed with an unknown sharp object and collapsed.

The man allegedly fled the scene, leaving his girlfriend lying on the bed. The young woman was found by her boyfriend’s sister with serious head injuries.

Ledwaba said the suspect’s sister called the police and emergency medical services. The woman was certified dead at the scene.

The suspect, said Ledwaba, was located and arrested immediately.

General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the gender-based-violence (GBV) incident. Police investigations are underway.

In a separate incident, legal practitioner Thubelihle Sbonakaliso Mpisi was arrested in August in KwaZulu-Natal in connection with the murder of girlfriend.

Mahlako Malebo Rabalao’s body was found burnt beyond recognition in her Mercedes-Benz in Midrand, Gauteng. She was discovered hours after Mpisi reported her missing.

Mpisi was arrested later in connection with the incident and charged with murder. His first court appearance was on July 31.  The case was postponed to August 7 for bail application. But Mpisi’s lawyer withdrew from the case, citing conflict of interest.  The case was postponed to August 14. He is expected back in court on Friday.

Before his arrest on allegations of murder, Mpisi posted a heartfelt message on social media grieving for her.

He said the pain he was in was deep and he didn’t know how to begin picking up the pieces.
