Man nabbed with unwrought gold back in court next week

Serobanyane Pule, a 44-year-old man who was arrested for being in possession of unwrought gold, is due back in the Klerksdorp magistrate’s court on August 30.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Tinyiko Mathebula said police received information on Tuesday about a suspect who was admitted to Tshepong Hospital in Jouberton.

This after Pule had allegedly swallowed a piece of gold-bearing material.

“After being operated on and discharged, the suspect returned to the same hospital to enquire about the material which was removed from his stomach,” said Mathebula.

“He was reportedly given back his material.”

North West head of the directorate for priority crime investigation, Major-General Patrick Mbotho, lauded the investigating team’s swift action in arresting the suspect.
