‘Muvhango’ actor’s paternity drama unravels on social media

Popular Muvhango actor Sydney Ramakuwela says he was forced to expose his own paternity tests after an ex-fling threatened him.

The actor said what started off as an innocent post on Facebook on Sunday about fathers loving their children escalated when someone called him a deadbeat in the comment section.

Ramakuwela said this was because a childhood friend accused him of fathering a child with her in 2012.

He told Sunday World that he was elated about the news and was ready to take up his role as a father to the child, but first he demanded paternity tests to prove that he was the real father.
Paternity test results
“I posted my daughter on Sunday with a funny caption along the lines of tag your man who doesn’t support their child. A lot of people came and commented; it was just a joke,” he said.

“I woke up on Monday and saw a comment that said my son was 17 years old, and I didn’t even know what they were eating, like I wasn’t supporting my child.”

Ramakuwela said the comment was referring to the incident with an ex-fling from 12 years ago who told him he had sired a child with her.

“I booked a test in Polokwane, and we did the tests. They called me and told me that the results are back; they can’t send them to me; I have to go to the laboratory and collect the results.

“Then I went to Auckland Park. I collected my results; I read them, and it said I was excluded from the child’s paternity.”
Threatening messages
He said he then called the woman and asked what the results stated, and she started accusing him of buying the tests and started hurling insults.

“I called Lancet again, and I was advised to hold on to my results, and if she wants to dispute, she can order more tests or she can also open a case against me, and then I can avail myself in court with my results,” he said.

He added that the matter ended there until she started sending threatening messages, saying she would expose him to the media.

He said he blocked her from communicating with him until Monday, when her comment surfaced on his post, along with her friends threatening him.

“I then realised that if I removed the post, people already had it. So I decided to post the results to clear my name,” he said.

He said he removed the post to protect the child after he saw people commenting with pictures of the teenage boy.

The woman then went on her social media pages to allege that she was not aware of the results of the paternity.
