Afro soul singer Puleng Phoofolo has been discharged from hospital after surviving a tragic car accident. The accident claimed the lives of musicians Malome Vector and Lizwi Wokuqala.
She wrote a statement released on her Facebook page revealing details of the accident. Phoofolo said that the car they were traveling in had four occupants. These included music director Da Vos, who also lost his life.
Phoofolo asked that she be afforded time and space to deal with the horrific trauma.
“In light of recent reports on social media, I would like to reassure all my fans and the media at large that I have been discharged from hospital and I am home recovering.
Confirms being in same accident, discharged from hospital
“I do confirm that indeed I was in the car that tragically collided with a truck and resulted in the untimely death of my industry brothers. Bakang Moleli aka Malome Vector, Lizwi Wokuqala and Director Da Mos,” the statement read.
The group was traveling to Lesotho when the accident happened in Kroonstad, Free State on the N8 national route.
Phoofolo also revealed that the car they were traveling in collided with a truck.
“Malome Vector and the entire team at Whole Time Entertainment have [played] a pivotal role in the growth, advancement of my brand and music career. And this is a great loss to me and the industry as a whole.
Appreciates the love, support and best wishes
“I further would like to say that I am overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring love and support that I have been receiving during this trying time. My life flashed before my eyes. And I cannot thank God enough for his grace and mercy,” she added.
On Wednesday, the group was travelling to Lesotho when a car they were traveling in was involved in the tragic accident.
False, confusing media reports about Ntate Stunna
Phoofolo’s statement clarifies the confusion caused by media reports about who exactly was involved in the accident. Some media reports had said that Phoofolo also died in the accident. Others even said musician Ntate Stunna also died in the tragic crash.
This could have been confused by the fact that Ntate Stunna and Malome Vector’s music is the same SeSotho language genre. Ntate Stunna’s management had to release a statement and set the record straight. They mentioned that he was not part of the unfortunate accident.
Details of funerals and memorial services for the three artists have nor yet been shared.
