Growing up in Miluwani Unit C, Limpopo, in a royal household shaped Unarine Mmbara into a young woman grounded in culture, faith and purpose.
At just 21 years old, she has already captured hearts and made history by being crowned Miss Royal Heritage 2025, an achievement she describes as “one of the happiest moments of my life”.
For Unarine, the pageant was more than a crown; it was a moment of validation. “It gave me confidence and showed me that hard work and faith truly bring results,” she reflects.
Her journey to the title is rooted in the values she inherited from her family: respect, humility, discipline and leadership.
Currently a second-year Law student at Unisa, Unarine is balancing the pressures of academia with the responsibilities of being a cultural ambassador. “Balancing law studies and pageant duties is not easy, but I rely on time management and always put education first,” she explains.
Her advice to other young people juggling multiple responsibilities is clear: stay
focused, plan your time wisely, and never give up on your dreams.
Her win also came with exciting rewards – R10 000 in cash and a R35 000 sponsored trip. But for Unarine, these prizes are not just for personal enjoyment. “I plan to use the money and the trip to grow myself, invest in my personal goals, and also support community
projects that can benefit young people,” she says.
Passionate about empowering the next generation, she hopes her reign will inspire the youth to value education and cultural pride.
“My message to the youth is simple: believe in yourselves, respect your culture, and
never stop learning,” she shares.
Her educational journey, from Khwevha Commercial School to university, has taught her that education is a powerful equaliser.
“It showed me that no matter where you come from, education can open many doors,” she notes.
Central to her success is her unwavering faith. “My faith in God is my foundation. There were times I felt nervous or unsure, but I always prayed. I reminded myself that God brought me here for a reason. That faith gave me peace and confidence,” she says.
Looking ahead, Unarine is determined to make an impact beyond the runway. “Next for me is to work on community projects, focus on finishing my law degree, and take part in
other pageants that will help me grow,” she reveals.
To young girls across South Africa who may be battling self-doubt, she offers a heartfelt message: “You are capable of greatness. Believe in yourself, trust God, and never let fear stop you from chasing your dreams.”
