When a gang of car thieves thought they’d pull off a quick job near Tek Base in Thaba Tshwane, they clearly had not checked the address or the dress code.
Because what awaited them wasn’t a sleepy security guard but a South African National Defence Force soldier… in pyjamas, holding a rifle, daring them to try him or see their own donkey.
And see it they did.
The suspects were stripped of their plans and handed over to the police like cold pap.
The SANDF’s swift, no-nonsense action reminds us why they deserve more than parade duty.
Perhaps it’s time every municipality gets a resident rifleman in pyjamas.
