Charmza: President Cyril Ramaphosa
The adage goes that “uneasy lies the head that wears the crown”.
It must indeed have been a few sleepless nights for President Cyril Ramaphosa as his efforts to put together a government of national unity faltered and did not even leave the starting blocks.
The second biggest party in the land wasn’t playing ball, true to character of people who had grown accustomed to having their way over the years.
It is a sentiment that can be attributed to having the needs of a certain section of the population put ahead of everybody else’s over centuries of colonial and apartheid rule.
But kudos to Ramaphosa for staying in control as leader of the biggest party to emerge out of the May 29 elections.
He stood his ground and refused to grant the spoilsports their wishes, borne of a sense of entitlement and baaskap.
