Charmza Proteas
For too long the Proteas, the men’s senior national cricket team, have worn the tag “chokers” that it was beginning to sound like a second name.
Captain after captain has sought to shed it without success following the infamous mix-up between Allan Donald and Lance Klussner in the semifinals of an ODI world cup in 1999.
That virtually handed Australia another world cup.
All the near-misses would have been forgotten yesterday as the Proteas finally triumphed over the old foe, Aussies, to clinch the Test Cricket Final at Lord’s, thanks in part to a courageous captain who soldiered on despite an injury.
Mzansi is particularly charmed that captain Temba Bavuma’s boys have done it in style!
