The war against crime, which has become so rampant in this country, can only be won when society as a whole not only takes a stand but actually does something about it. Â
This week, the nation was shocked by a horror footage of a teen assaulting his grandmother in Western Cape. It has since emerged the crime took place in June, but nothing was done about it because the family refused to play their part in bringing the criminal to book, with the elderly women refusing to lay a charge. Â
The thug was arrested on Wednesday evening. Clearly nothing would have happened had the assault not been exposed on social media. Â
We thank whoever posted the video, as horrific as it was, as it eventually got the wheels of justice rolling. Â
Plaudits also to the police who traced the hooligan, who we hope will get his just desserts.Â
