Why would the wise and lettered persons manning the Monetary Policy Committee be so blind to the country’s realities: that South Africans, especially the black majority, will have nothing left of their meagre wages after the repo rate was hiked by 50 basis points, bringing the prime lending rate to 11.25%?
Who are these men and women who are so insensitive?
Governor Lesetja Kganyago must surely know about this, and we wonder what might have been swirling in his mind when he took to the podium to make the announcement.
