FF Plus leader lambasts DA for ‘opportunistic manipulation’

Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) leader Pieter Groenewald has refuted claims that his party is in a coalition with the ANC, describing the allegations as attempts to create an impression that FF Plus is “dishonest and opportunistic”.

Groenewald’s remarks came in response to allegations made by the DA regarding the Emfuleni municipality.

He said the ANC in Emfuleni had indeed offered positions within the mayoral committee to various political parties, including the FF Plus. However, he emphasized that his party rejected the offer.

Groenewald accused the DA of “opportunistic manipulation”, asserting that the blue party distorted the situation to falsely portray FF Plus as willing to cooperate with the ANC.

“The FF Plus’ stance on the matter of cooperating with the ANC is thoroughly documented and widely known. It will not cooperate nor form a coalition with the ANC, not now or ever,” he said.

Highlighting the critical state of affairs in Emfuleni, Groenewald drew attention to the municipality’s dire financial situation which is characterized by bankruptcy and creditors seizing the municipality’s bank accounts due to overwhelming debt.

He stressed that the delivery of essential services in the area has significantly deteriorated, causing distress among residents.

He squarely held the ANC responsible for the municipality’s predicament, attributing it to the ruling party’s incompetence and inability to govern efficiently.

“This is the direct result of the ANC’s incompetence and inability to govern. The FF Plus will certainly not do anything to strengthen the ANC’s position or to keep it in power.

“Like elsewhere, the FF Plus will diligently keep fulfilling its role as opposition party and will do everything in its power to help residents amid the lack of service delivery under ANC rule,” he said.
