Sassa distances itself from fake messages on social media

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has warned the public about fake messages on social media advising grant recipients to swap their Sassa gold cards.

Nandi Mosia, spokesperson for Sassa in Gauteng region, urged the public to refrain from circulating the wrong information, saying such behaviour causes unnecessary confusion and panic for grant beneficiaries.

“The Sassa gold card is still working and valid and the beneficiaries will continue receiving their grants as per payment dates, unless they choose other alternative forms of receiving their grant payment, such as opening personal bank accounts,” said Mosia.

The agency further said all the changes and developments regarding Sassa-related matters are only communicated on the Sassa credited platforms.
