Search continues for Diepsloot man swallowed by a river

The search of a missing man continues in Diepsloot, in the north of Johannesburg after he vanished on Sunday evening.

It is reported that Emergency Management Services’ (EMS) search and rescue team resumed the search on Wednesday morning. EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo confirmed the news and said the search commenced in the early hours of the morning.

“The search of a 37-year-old male that was reported to have fallen into a river stream in Diepsloot on Sunday evening continues. The EMS team will start the search where the actual incident occurred,” said Khumalo.

The tragedy happened nearly two months after a number of congregants were swept away by the Jukskei River in Johannesburg. The body of a three-month-old baby who was swept away by the flash floods has not been found.
