Seven more South Africans succumb to COVID-19

 

Seven more people have died from the deadly COVID-19 disease, taking the total number of fatalities in South Africa to 34.

The infection number has also increased from 2415  to 2056, an increase of 94 from Tuesday‘s tally.


This was announced by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize in a statement on Wednesday evening.

“ It is with sadness that we report seven new COVID-19 related deaths. Six of these deaths are from Kwa-Zulu-Natal and one of them is from the(sic) Gauteng. We convey our condolences to the families and also appreciate the committed health workers who were treating these patients,” he said.

The deceased from Kwa-Zulu Natal were: a 71-year-old female with comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes and renal failure, a 79-year-old male with unknown comorbidities, 86 year-old female with hypertension, a 91-year-old male with diabetes, a 73-year-old female with diabetes and hypertension, 79-year-old with unknown comorbidities.

Gauteng only lost one patient, a 50-year-old male, who also suffered from chronic asthma.

Mkhize also said the number of tests conducted, have also hiked to 90515.
