Bafana Bafana will play three international friendly matches at home and one away in the coming weeks as coach Hugo Broos prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in January next year.
The friendlies will also form part as their preparations for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in November.
SA Football Association (Safa) CEO Lydia Monyepao confirmed on Friday that Bafana will host Namibia on September 9, DR Congo on September 12 and Eswatini on October 13. The venues of the matches in South Africa are yet to be confirmed.
Broos and his charges will then travel to west Africa to face Afcon hosts Ivory Coast on 17 October, five days after the tournament draw.
“These matches are in support of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos as he continues with his preparation for the Afcon in the beginning of next year, and the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers,” Monyepao said.
Bafana was drawn in Group C at the draw for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers conducted in the capital of Ivory Coast, Abidjan, last month, and they were pitted against Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Benin, Rwanda, and Lesotho.
Meanwhile, sponsorship manager of 10bet Nick Moyo, the new official betting partners of the men’s national team, wished Bafana a good luck ahead of their all-important friendly matches.
“The national team has been going from strength to strength, and we at 10bet can’t wait for the upcoming international friendlies to kick off,” he said.
“Millions of football enthusiasts and the nation at large have your back, and this is an opportunity to continue rallying behind the team along their exciting journey ahead. Good Luck Bafana Bafana, you have our support.”
