The SA Football Association (Safa) in Ekurhuleni is fast becoming the coaching hub of Gauteng.
The region is hosting the D license coaching courses and the ground-breaking programme is being attended by some of the big names from across the country.
Among those who have enrolled for the programme at Germiston Stadium are Sundowns chairman Tlhopi Motsepe and Supersport United coach Gavin Hunt’s daughter Kaitlin Hunt.
In 2022, Ekurhuleni rolled out C licence courses attended by Bernard Parker, Happy Jele, Morgan Mammila, Musa Nyatama, Vincent Kobola, Bevan Fransman and Manqoba “Shakes” Ngwenya, among others.
The coaching course kicked off on Saturday, and according to Job Mchunu, Safa president in Ekurhuleni, the programme will run over weekends to accommodate individuals who are fully employed elsewhere.
“We thought to accommodate those who are employed full-time elsewhere, that we run this course only on weekends,” said the energetic and passionate Mchunu.
The next session will be conducted on March 18, 19 and 21 which will be followed by another one on March 24 and 25 with the closing date being April 1.
A total of 37 coaching aspirants are attending the courses which are facilitated by renowned CAF instructors Jose de Oliveira and Simon Tshowa.
