Sports Sermon Opinion: A refreshing take on professionalism with Benni 

When people talk about him, they do not enthuse or wax lyrical like when the names of Patrick “Ace” Ntsoelengoe, Nelson “Teenage” Dladla, or even the “Black Prince”, Jomo Sono are rolling off their tongues.
 
Benni McCarthy may not be mentioned with the same awe as your Lucas “Masterpieces” Moripe or Steve “Kalamazoo” Mokone, but he’s by far the most decorated SA footballer.
 
He is one of those rare gems that flew the SA flag high and put Mzansi on the world football map. He zig-zagged the whole world showcasing his talents, breaking records and barriers. He did not spare South African Football Association officials who did not have the best interest of the players at heart.
