Royal AM players finally paid for September

Royal AM’s financial troubles continue after the club paid players their September salaries late.

Sources close to the club said players expected to be paid their September salaries latest by last Sunday. But when they did not get paid they tried in vain to reach out to owner and flamboyant businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize to enquire about payments.

The affected players then approached the South African Football Players Union (Safpu) for intervention.

“While it is regrettable the players at Royal AM faced delays in their salary payments, we commend the club for promptly acknowledging and rectifying the matter in line with their commitment to the players. The club’s proactive approach, involving open communication and swift action to address the delays, is commendable,” said Safpu Secretary General Nhlanhla Shabalala

“In our support of fair treatment for players, it’s crucial to highlight the positive steps taken by the club in resolving this issue. This approach not only fosters a sense of unity within the team but also sets a positive example for other clubs that may face difficulties. Above all, we are pleased to note the players have now been paid, ensuring their well-being and livelihoods are maintained.”
