Ditlhokwe urges Chiefs teammates to ‘pull up socks’

Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has urged his teammates to “pull up their socks” ahead of a clash against AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 5.30pm.

The Glamour Boys already find themselves on the back foot and on the wrong side of the bed with Amakhosi faithful early into the season.

Chiefs have not registered a win in the league so far this season, losing two and drawing one of their three matches so far.

Despite Amakhosi already chasing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who are ahead with a staggering 14 points, Ditlhokwe is confident they can bounce back.

“As players, we are disappointed with the way the results have been coming from our side,” Ditlhokwe said at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena on Thursday.

“It’s high time that we pull up our socks and have those individual meetings in every department so that we can see where we are getting it wrong and correct it.

“We can’t start counting points that we don’t have, we are taking it one game at a time and our focus is getting three points against AmaZulu and then start building from that.

“Obviously anything is possible [to catch up with Sundowns].”

The former SuperSport United defender and fellow new signee Given Msimango have since been the preferred centre-back parring by coach Molefi Ntseki.

Amakhosi will be desperate to turn things around and try to avoid a repeat of last week’s scenes when fans threw bottles onto the field after a defeat to TS Galaxy.
