Following another uninspiring performance from Kaizer Chiefs, head coach Molefi Ntseki has admitted that losing in the manner in which they do is unacceptable.
Chiefs succumbed to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City, courtesy of a Khanyisa Mayo second half goal at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.
Amakhosi have been blowing hot and cold this season, losing four of their last nine games, winning three and drawing two.
Ntseki has since conceded that the last nine string of results are unacceptable, and expressed his concern about how they concede goals.
“It is, it is [four defeats are too much] it doesn’t go well with all of us, in terms of losing matches, as I said you prepare [for matches] to win,” Ntseki said after the match.
“The team has brought in good quality players, and this good quality player… I always say it’s a process, it’s a process for them to understand the game model, it’s a process for them to understand results like this.
“It’s a bad result, when you look at the plan going into the game, we knew it could have been two wins in a row, we were looking forward to playing well and winning this game,” he said.
“But if you don’t score goals and concede in the way we did, you will likely lose the game, but I think if you look at the balance of play, we were very much in the forefront trying to keep possession and being more offensive.”
Ntseki named two changes to the team that played against Sekhukhune United. Injured sloppy goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and in-form midfielder George Matlou were replaced by veteran Itumeleng Khune and new signing Sibongiseni Mthethwa.
The defeat to the Citizens meant that Amakhosi dropped to number seven on the DStv Premiership log standings – with 11 points after nine games.
They will be back in action away to high-flying Golden Arrows after the Fifa break on October 28.
